In July 2022 Musson Liggins were involved in the valuation of the former Beales Department Store on Queen Street within the centre of Mansfield. The valuation formed a vital part of Mansfield District Council’s Levelling-Up Fund submission for the town in order to demonstrate their commitment to investment and regeneration to the government.

A successful Levelling-Up Fund submission could see a £20m injection of funds into Mansfield District Council’s ambitious, long-term town centre regeneration strategy which include plans to transform the former Beales Department Store building into a new multi-agency civic and community hub, going under the name of Mansfield Connect.

David Bladen, Director of Musson Liggins who carried out the valuation, said “It has been a pleasure to be involved in such an important project which will ultimately bring much-needed improvements to Mansfield Town Centre. The 163,000 ft² building over 6 floors brings with it a unique set of challenges. The Council has demonstrated that they have a strong vision for the future, and I think the project will be a resounding success.”

The landmark 1930s building is set to be modernized and extended to provide a new headquarters for the council and is expected to house a variety of other public, health and wellbeing, education, and enterprise services, alongside spaces for private sector investment.

Michael Robinson, Mansfield District Council’s Strategic Director welcomed Musson Liggins support and insight, commenting “An independent valuation of the building formed a vital part of the submission we made to government in early August and we were grateful that Musson Liggins was able to help us.  We look forward to a positive decision on Mansfield Connect sometime in the autumn later this year.”
