Sports Report

ML Director Steve Musson has provided advice for the expansion of a number of sporting venues in the East Midlands and surrounding areas.

In particular, in the last 6 months, specialist valuation advice has been provided to:

~ A Leicestershire Football Club who were upgrading and refurbishing their facilities
~ A Yorkshire Snooker Club who were planning to redevelop their site
~ A Leicestershire Rugby Club who were enhancing their clubhouse and pitches
~ A Nottinghamshire Marina and Sailing Club who were restructuring their finances
~ A Leicestershire Lawn Tennis Club who were also upgrading and refurbishing their facilities

In each instance the predominant reason for the consultancy was an increase in membership and participation.

As seen in the photo below, Steve is a long term member and coach of Premier League Hockey Club Beeston HC and is familiar with the difficulties that sports clubs face in keeping pace with competition and facilities management.

David Bladen played an instrumental part in finding a new Tenant for a 19th century tavern with a network of caves is to open at Nottingham’s oldest hotel. The Curious Tavern is a new £500,000 addition to the Mercure Hotel in Hockley which dates back nearly 200 years.

It’s the most ambitious project to date for Dean and Daniel Brown, the father-and-son team behind the Curious Manor and the Curious Townhouse – which opened at the end of 2016 in the Lace Market.

Daniel said: “It’s exciting. This is the flagship project for me and my dad. We have planned it out over the next 12-18 months.

“As Nottingham’s oldest hotel it’s really historical. Curious Townhouse is beautiful but this is a level up. We’re trying to bring it back to the tavern it once was.”

The new bar opened in December 2016 with an oyster bar, sandwiches, pastries and Starbucks’ coffee.

Matthew Liggins has sold premises formerly occupied by Nottingham Community Housing Associaltion and NACRO to a developer who has already started to convert the properties into residential accommodation.

There appears to be a lot of development activity in the area and as a firm Musson Liggins are involved in a lot of interesting projects and valuations in the surrounding streets.
